Indian Springs School

         CRS Engineering and Design Consultants, Inc. expects to complete design development on two student residence facilities and a new science education center for Indian Springs School by the end of the year, according to John W. Gill, PE, principal in charge for CRS.

          The new residence facilities, one for male students and one for females, will replace current buildings. Each residence will be approximately 12,000-square-feet and include a combination of suites and single rooms with a commons room, and two three-bedroom faculty apartments.

          The science center is approximately 8,000-square-feet and will house labs for biology, chemistry and physics, offices and a general classroom. Groundbreaking is expected by April of next year (2005) with completion during the 2005-2006 school year. According to Gill, the team has focused on building an environmentally sustainable design.

          Architecture Works, is the project architect and Brasfield and Gorrie is the general contractor.

         Other CRS professionals on the project include R. Scott Bruner, PE, mechanical engineering design and Richard Stehr, PE, fire protection design. Gill is providing electrical engineering and lighting design.

          CRS Engineering and Design Consultants is a 26-year old firm based in Birmingham that specializes in commercial, healthcare, institutional and religious buildings. CRS performs services in electrical engineering, plumbing engineering, fire protection engineering, mechanical and HVAC engineering, lighting design, telecommunication design and security systems design.

          The firm also has a Huntsville office.
