Our company has evolved from a two-man office in Birmingham, Alabama into an organization of more than 40 committed professional men and women with offices in Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama.

Frank M. Cater, P.E., Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CRS, founded the firm in 1976. His vision spearheaded the development of CRS into the company it is today. His philosophy of providing enhanced service and integrated design to clients has made CRS Engineering one of the most comprehensive engineering service firms in the Southeast.

CRS is a forerunner in the field of consulting engineering and design firms, providing integrated design services in electrical, mechanical & HVAC, and plumbing engineering, as well as specialty consulting in lighting design, fire protection, acoustics, security, and telecommunication systems to the architecture and construction community. The variety and depth of experience of our staff makes us a leader in the field.

Kenneth W. Cater, P.E., President, joined CRS in 1992. Ken represents the next generation of leadership at CRS with a commitment to innovation and quality service for our clients.

R. Scott Bruner, P.E., Vice-President and Chief Mechanical Engineer joined our firm in 1991. His engineering skills and leadership abilities greatly contribute to the technical strength of our company.

John W. Gill, P.E., L.C., Director of Lighting Design Services, joined the firm in 1992. With a background in architectural design, he embodies the integrated design approach so important for successful projects.

D. Andrew York, P.E. Principal and Vice-President in charge of the Huntsville office joined the firm in 1995. His multi-discipline training in lighting, power systems and acoustics provides unique engineering insight into a variety of projects.
