UAB Academic Building

         CRS Engineering and Design Consultants, Inc. has completed construction drawings for the five story UAB Academic Building to be built on the corner of University Boulevard and 14 Street, according to Ken Cater, PE, principal in charge for CRS.

         The 92,000-square foot teaching facility will house classrooms, lecture halls and offices. Construction is expected to begin in July.

         Other CRS professionals on the project include Mike Romine, PE, project manager and electrical engineering design; Don Kitchens, PE, mechanical engineering design; Charles Foshee, CIPE, plumbing design; Richard Stehr, PE, fire protection design; Sam Dunn, lighting; John Thomas, voice/data design, and Brad Aaron, project coordinator.

         KPS is the project architectural firm.

         CRS Engineering and Design Consultants is a 30-year old firm, based in Birmingham, that specializes in commercial, healthcare, institutional and religious buildings. CRS performs services in electrical engineering, plumbing engineering, fire protection engineering, mechanical and HVAC engineering, lighting design, telecommunication design and security systems design.

          The firm also has a Huntsville office.
